'So what?' you ask.
We now have an acquisition vehicle as nimble as our development process.
What it means is that a DoD client and, to a lesser extent, other Federal Civilian clients, can get work awarded quickly, after building an understanding of scope and intent with the vendor.
Instead of months of toil to get to an award after RFI, industry days, Q&A, more Q&A, published revisions, RFP, submittals, review, evaluation boards, awards, followed by possible protest (all before the first day of work can begin); a client can discuss the requirement directly with us, work collaboratively with us to define the scope, and get an award in weeks or months rather than quarters or years. As an added bonus, when we start work, as an 8(a), we'll have a deeper understanding of your requirements and intent. In other words, we'll market you like we would a private sector client and you can purchase our services almost as easily as they could.
For the federal civilian side this means that you can make a $4 Million directed award to us through a simple process. For the DoD client, awards on the order of $20 Million should present no serious obstacles. As a Native Hawaiian Organization owned firm, we can receive a directed award from a DoD client limited, effectively, only by the clients need.
This opens the door to a software development capability that can be truly, rapidly responsive to our clients' needs.
